Summary of Interview
Ellen Peavy with Jacaruso Enterprises
On July 10, 2023, I, along with two other Auburn University students, Emily McCormack and Haneen Hommosani, conducted an interview with Ellen Peavy, a Regional Director of Sales for Jacaruso Enterprises. This interview was conducted in order to provide greater insight into what life is like for an individual working within the hospitality field and how technology impacts them on a day-to-day basis.
Jacaruso Enterprises is a Hotel Sales Solutions company that offers sales support and training to hospitality sales professionals. Although based in Hutto, Texas, Jacaruso Enterprises currently employs over one hundred employees who are spread throughout the United States. Collectively, Jacaruso Enterprises serves numerous brand name and independent hotels including Hilton WorldWide, IHG, Wyndham, Marriott International, and Best Western International.
Following graduating from Auburn University in 2000, Ellen Peavy began her hospitality sales career. She has worked through 9/11, the recession, and COVID-19. Throughout her time in hospitality sales, she has learned how to utilize technology to meet her personal and work life needs. Currently, she is able to work from home as a freelancer for Jacaruso Enterprises and is able to make her own schedule. Ellen generally works with hotels to deal with leads, prospecting, brand connection, and SEO. She particularly enjoys working with new individuals as well as the constant change in hospitality and technology markets.
When asked what her advice would be for future professionals interested in the hospitality and technology fields, she recommended students to be open to change. She encouraged students to embrace change and strive to have the ability to pivot on a dime.
